Q&A With
Isaac Thompson
At a young age, I was involved in lots of sports and eventually, around the age of eight, chose swimming as my main focus, training at my local club, Caligo Tigers Swimming Club. I chose swimming because of the fun training environment, getting to train with all your mates and its competitive nature.
My biggest sporting achievements to date are being a Commonwealth finalist and semi-finalist in separate events at Glasgow 2026. This was my first big breakthrough onto the senior international stage.
My short-term goal is to become a routine selection for senior international competitions for my respective federations and to be able to compete and hold my own at senior international level. Long-term, I want to qualify for major international competitions, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, India.
I love the focus and determination needed to succeed. There always has to be a constant drive to improve, technically or physically, in order to remain competitive.
The support from the LouLou Race Foundation will help massively towards travel costs and other training-related expenses, such as equipment and my training environment. It will allow me to focus fully on my performance and performing at my best.
