Q&A With
Jacob Mauger
I got into cycling mainly through my parents, who also have a passion for the sport. From the age of eight, I was part of Jersey Youth Cycling and attended every Wednesday night session, where my skills as a rider, along with my passion for the sport, grew.
Some of my biggest sporting achievements so far include: Multiple top-10 stage results in UCI races against international competition. 2nd overall in the Youth General Classification at the Junior Tour of Wales (2025). 2nd in the Individual Cross-Country Mountain Bike event at the Island Games. 3rd in the Island Games Criterium.
In the short term, I would like to stand on a UCI podium this year. Next year, I hope to make a smooth step up into the U23 ranks and progress onto a Continental team or the French DN1 equivalent. Long term, I think I speak for every cyclist when I say my dream is to ride the Tour de France.
The thing I love most about cycling is the places it takes me. I love racing and training in some of the best places Europe has to offer that I otherwise probably wouldn't get to see. I also love the atmosphere and team environment, where every result feels like a team effort.
The support from the LouLou Race Foundation goes a long way in allowing me to take every opportunity that comes my way. It removes the financial barrier and enables me to travel, purchase equipment and make the most of opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to.
