Luke Holmes Makes Jersey History in Europe

There’s a new name making waves on the international triathlon stage and it belongs to Loulou athlete Luke Holmes. In July 2025, Luke stormed to victory at the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup in Tabor, Czech Republic, becoming the first athlete from Jersey ever to win a European Cup event.
It was a performance to remember. From the swim to the bike and into the run, Luke looked in control, showing confidence beyond his years. Even after a penalty threatened to disrupt his rhythm, he kept his cool, powered through, and crossed the line with a 25-second lead. An incredible moment for Luke, and a historic milestone for Jersey sport.
A Breakthrough Summer
This win came just months after Luke’s earlier race in Quarteira, Portugal (March 2025), where he gained valuable experience competing at international level. By July, he’d turned that experience into fuel, coming back stronger, faster, and sharper. His victory in Tabor wasn’t just a medal, it was proof of the progress he’s made and the promise of what’s still to come.
Backed by Community
Behind every great performance is a team of people helping to make it possible. Luke has been quick to thank the support he’s received through Jersey Sport’s Performance Programme, Loulou Race Foundation, Big Maggys, and Jersey Sports and Spinal Clinic. It’s that mix of guidance, resources, and encouragement that helps young athletes like Luke step onto international stages and shine.
Why We’re Proud
At Loulou Race Foundation, we exist to give young athletes pathways to achieve moments just like this. Luke’s win isn’t just about crossing the finish line first, it’s about breaking new ground for Jersey, inspiring others to dream bigger, and showing what’s possible when ambition meets support.
